The Background of the Qur'an

The Qur'an is the holy book of Islam. In comparison to Christianity, it is like a Bible. The Qur'an is made up of Surahs', which are basically smaller passages, or chapters that are curated into the larger work. There are one hundred and fourteen Surah's in the Qur'an, and they range in different themes. Some themes of Surahs include: Believing in one true God, passages about the messenger Muhammed, and how to be a true follower of Islam. There are many life lessons and themes throughout the Qur'an beyond these. The Qur'an's teachings are considered to be a fundamental part of the teaching is Islam and reading and understanding the Qur'an is of the utmost importance to be a follower of Islam.
